Sporting highlights on the 70th anniversary.
TSV gleuben celebrated its 70th anniversary. The club celebrated its 70th birthday with a weekend-long program that included many sporting highlights on the sports field. "A great age" noted the chairman of finance, construction and facilities, marco schramm, at the small festive reception, which took place in a tent after the service.
A look back at the history of the club. 27 members founded the association 70 years ago. The inauguration of the youth and sports center was celebrated as early as 1965. The high point in the 1970s was the 25th anniversary of the club, which was celebrated with three sports weeks. At that time, the club had two senior teams, one youth team, two school teams and one senior team.
The club has had many highs and lows since its foundation and has won a number of championship titles and final round titles. The repeated promotion to the A-class, in which the club played for three years, was probably the greatest sporting success in its history to date. The new sports field, which has been owned by the club since 1978, was completed as early as 1985. In addition, an annex was integrated into the sports center in 1987.
An outstanding event was the bavarian second place in the oddset-tip, which took the players of the club to the sports school in unterhaching, where the team was coached by championship coach ottmar hitzfeld.
2008 marked the 60th anniversary of the club's founding. Numerous trainers and officials, as well as many volunteers, have volunteered their time and efforts to the association since its foundation. Many countless hours have been spent by members working on a voluntary basis to maintain the sports hall and bring it up to standard. For this, marco schramm paid thanks and recognition. Today thomas wachsmann acts as coach for the first and second team.
Mayor werner thomas highlighted the anniversary. Celebrating an anniversary is important for the community and club life, it builds new momentum. He went on to describe the highs and lows of the club's life. That is why it is important to find members of the club again, who stand by the club after a deep period of time. TSV gleuben has always succeeded in doing this since it was founded. Since its foundation, TSV gleuben has made an important contribution to the citizens of gleuben and far beyond. Especially in the youth work. Sport is an important part of community life, because in sport you learn how to play by the rules and how to deal with victories and defeats.
For young people, sport as practiced in TSV gleuben is an important stabilizer for camaraderie and socializing. However, it is more difficult to get young people excited about the sport
the mayor paid tribute to all the officials of the last 70 years. He also spoke about the requirements for an association in today's world. That is why many volunteers, who often work behind the scenes, are still needed today. However, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find volunteers, thomas noted. He was also pleased that the sports facilities in gleuben had been intensively maintained over the years and that the sports center had been repeatedly renovated to bring it up to date. The members can be very proud of this. It has never been easy to run a club like TSV gleuben, as the mayor noted.
Andre engelhardt was honored for 500 games; volker scherbel for 450 games; marcel guthlein for 250 games. Alexander bruckner, the top goalkeeper of the 1980s, was awarded the golden pin for 50 years of membership.
